Bull Jumps Into Crowd, MADRID - Three people, including a 10-year-old remained in hospital on Thursday with injuries sustained in a charging bull to a crowd of terrified spectators on stage in Spain, local authorities.


Spanish television showed dramatic images of screaming spectators, including children, desperately trying to avoid wild animals after a wave several meters (yards) from a security fence, then climbed on a fence and the bleachers packed night of Wednesday.


The animal fell into the stands before they fall into several steps, crushing several people at the bullring in the town of Tafalla, in the northern region of Navarra.


Several employees of the ring was finally able to get a rope around the bull after about 15 minutes and he was kidnapped and killed by a crane.


The Navarra regional government told 32 people were treated in hospitals and clinics. Most suffered minor injuries such as bruises and were released, but three remained hospitalized Thursday.


A child of 10 years was in serious but stable "abdominal trauma" after the bull fell on him, said in the statement.


A 23 year old woman was treated for a crushed vertebra, and a man of 47 years for injuries sustained when he was gored in the lower back. Both are in stable condition.


In addition to the 32, "many others" who have suffered strokes or scratches and bruises, the statement said.


The incident occurred not in a traditional bullfight, but during a contest of "trimming" in which participants attempt to avoid the bull and still be as close to as possible.


The bull, called cheese, had tried twice to jump the barrier in the event, breaking one of his horns, and was being removed from the scene when he plunged into the crowd.


"I was terrified. I left the stage, shouting:" One young woman said on television the neighboring Basque Country.


Another woman said, "people started to fall for each other ... So, I could not find my friends, what happened was terrible."


"I've never felt so scared. I am still shaking," one of the wounded, the newspaper ABC.


"The bull had already made some attempts, but was relatively calm. And suddenly I saw that the animal had jumped and after being stuck on the fence for a second wine. Then it was chaos ... There were the hooves grow , cries, blows. "


The Navarra government said most of the spectators were young people who have reacted in time to avoid the bull, or the toll could be much higher.


These incidents are very rare in bullfights. While animals occasionally manage to jump the security fence that very rarely in the stands.


Wednesday's incident comes amid intense debate in Spain on the secular tradition of bullfighting.


The northern region of Catalunya last month became the first part of mainland Spain to prohibit the practice of animal activists condemn as a form of torture and to consider others as part of the country's cultural heritage.


In a recent survey, 60 percent of the Spanish said they did not agree with the program, which ends with the death of the bull with a sword in a good position.


Navarra, which is Tafalla, is famous for the traditional "lock" in the regional capital Pamplona.


Dozens are injured each year when runners try to overcome the burden of the bulls in the narrow streets of the Old City in a scenario where

bullfighting is performed.
